Letter from the sheriff,

I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to all law enforcement officers, staff, and emergency responders in our county for the many ways they keep our county safe. We are very fortunate to have great cooperation and assistance at any time an event occurs, not only from assisting agencies but the public as well.

Recently, our agencies had officers who worked an emergency situation which required some of them working more than 24 hours straight. They all did so without complaint and were very professional and intent on doing what was best for the safety and well-being of the community.

Whether paid or volunteer, these careers are very demanding not only on the individual person, but their families as well. Without the support of our families we would not be able to perform our jobs as they should be carried out. More often than not, plans have to be cancelled, functions missed, sleep interrupted, special occasions rescheduled, etc. because the responsibility of these jobs demand immediate attention.

Without the understanding of our families we would not be able to dedicate ourselves to these professions of being public servants. Thank you to everyone who dedicates their lives to helping others and especially a big thank-you to the families of these special men and women who understand why we choose to do what we do.
