I have been asked to publish the most recent KBI CRIME STATISTICS for the public to look at. I have included 10 northeast counties for review.

When a report is made to dispatch or law enforcement such as a Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property, Theft, etc, an occurrence is generated to that responsible law enforcement agency and reported to the state. The state gathers these statistics and compiles them in their data base.

Each county is broken down by Sheriffs offices and each police department in that respective county. It also shows the population each entity serves. The crime rate is figured by reported occurrences per 1,000 population. Of the 10 counties shown, Brown County is 2nd lowest in reported crime.

Through active patrol, community policing and following up on citizen complaints we are very fortunate to have a relatively low crime rate for residents who live in Brown County, outside city or tribal jurisdictions.

I am very glad our crime rate has dropped even lower than it was last year. People are looking for places to live and raise their family where crime rates are low and policing is prevalent. We have been very successful especially with the cooperation we receive from the public.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask and if you would like to view the crime index for the entire state of Kansas, google KBI CRIME INDEX.
