It has been brought to our attention that some local businesses and residents are being contacted by telephone from an individual who claims to be a federal agent. The male is informing residents that they have until the close of business to wire a certain amount of money to him or there will be a Federal Warrant issued and the person will be arrested at their place of employment.
The individual calling has a very distinct accent. There have been different variations to this scenario and different phone numbers and address given but this scam is in our area at this time and we have had several calls of concern. If residents do receive these types of calls we remind them to not give out any personal information over the phone or computer.
